What is Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is the assessment, diagnosis and treatment/ management of a number of conditions affecting the body. Musculoskeletal physiotherapy is the most common branch, this covers most ailments affecting muscles, joints, nerves and bones.  When you see a physiotherapist for the first time you should expect a full and thorough assessment, to enable us to determine if your complaint is something physiotherapy is appropriate for, or if we need to refer to another health provider for more information.

Do I need a referral?

No, in most cases you do not need a referral to see our physiotherapists. The exception to this, is if you are claiming compensation, through a work injury, or a motor vehicle accident. In these circumstances you will need a referral from your GP to determine if physiotherapy is appropriate.

Can I claim my appointment?

If you have private health cover, which physiotherapy is covered for, you are able to use our hi-caps facility on the day. This means you can claim your health fund rebate at the time, and will only need to pay the gap. You will need to contact your health fund to find out how much they will cover for your physiotherapy treatment.

Private physiotherapy cannot be claimed through Medicare, unless you are eligible and your doctor has provided you with an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program. You will need to speak to your physiotherapist and your local GP to see if this is appropriate for you.

If you do have an EPC, we do not bulk bill for these services, you will need to pay for your appointment as per our usual fees, and Medicare will refund the rebate into your nominated bank account. Please contact us if you have any queries regarding this.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes- We often have a wait list, and therefore ask that you give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel your appointment. This ensures we can give those on our wait list adequate notice, that a time has become available.

Failure to turn up for an appointment, or inadequate notice for cancellation will incur a $50 fee which must be paid before further appointments can be booked.

If you are unable to attend your appointment we now require a MINIMUM of two hours’ notice.

We may also request pre-payment to reserve a booking if you have had multiple non-attendances in the past.

We thank you for your understanding and support of our policy.
